What Is The QbTest?

QbTest is a market-leading, objective ADHD diagnostic tool designed by Qbtech, a CE-marked, Class I medical device, and a widely used objective test that measures core ADHD symptoms: activity, attention, and impulsivity. This standardised test is widely recognised for its accuracy. It is backed by years of extensive research that complements other clinical measures and cognitive tests, providing comprehensive insights into ADHD presentation, diagnosis, and treatment.

Designed to be user-friendly, QbTest involves a brief 20-minute computer-based assessment in a controlled environment. During the test, key ADHD symptoms are measured with precision. The collected data is then compared to a control group of individuals of the same gender and age who do not have ADHD. This ensures reliable and accurate results which are then compiled into a report.

With QbTest clinicians can make informed diagnostic decisions and approach ADHD assessments with confidence and greater understanding of a patient’s symptoms. Ultimately, this means better patient outcomes and a smoother pathway to high-quality ADHD care and support.

The QbTest 1, 2, 3

  1. Reduces delays in the diagnostic process.
  2. Minimises the possibility of age and gender bias.
  3. Unlocks clearer understanding of symptoms.

Who Is The QbTest For?

Individuals who may benefit from a QbTest include those seeking objective measurements of their activity, attention, and impulsivity, particularly individuals who are already being assessed for ADHD or require evidence to access an ADHD assessment referral via their GP. The test can be valuable for healthcare professionals, educators, and individuals themselves in gaining insights into cognitive functioning and identifying potential areas for intervention or support regardless of whether a formal diagnosis is being sought.

Those undergoing medication titration or if unsure whether long-term medication is benefiting them. The QbTest can help identify whether the prescribed medication is improving the patient’s symptoms or if adjustments need to be made to the treatment plan. This objective data can guide healthcare professionals in making informed decisions about medication dosages and types, leading to more personalized and effective medication management for patients.

QbTest – Your Questions Answered

How is the QbTest performed?

The QbTest is conducted by completing tasks on a computer while wearing a headband with a reflective marker and using a response button. Symbols are displayed on the computer screen, and the person is required to press the response button when a specific symbol appears. Throughout the test, an infrared camera tracks the individual’s movements to gather data on activity levels. The test typically takes around 20 minutes to complete.

Does the camera film me?

No, the camera only detects the movement of the infrared marker, it does not record any images at all.

Can I practise before taking the test?

Yes. Before the test starts you will be able to watch an instructional video, complete 1-minute practise tests, and ask about anything you are unsure of.

Can I take a break or pause the QbTest?

No. QbTest is a continuous performance task therefore it is not possible to pause the test once started.

I play a lot of video games, will this help me take the test?

No. There is no evidence to show that computer gaming gives any advantage to undertaking the test or the results.

Can I bring a friend to support me?

A friend or relative can accompany you to The HUB but will not be able to enter the QbTest room with you. The test must be carried out in controlled conditions, a member of our trained team will be present throughout your test.

How quickly will I get my results?

The data gathered during the test will be thoroughly analysed by one of our medically qualified clinical team who will compile a personalised report including recommendations within four working weeks.

What if I need to rearrange my appointment, will I need to pay again?

If you contact us more than 5 working days before your scheduled appointment there will be no additional charge. If you need to reschedule within 5 working days, a £50.00 rebooking fee will be applicable.

What is your cancellation policy?
