Heidi Compton

Using art as a tool to support well being – it’s fun, joyful and works brilliantly to help people relax!

I offer wellbeing sessions that give respite from anxiety, stress and overwhelm.

I plan gentle and easy to follow art lessons that help clients relax and feel present.

The techniques I teach are ones that clients can also easily use in their own time as a support to their mental health.

I have a lot of experience in the field of arts and health and am a compassionate listener and conversationalist

I can tailor sessions to the participant and the type of art they specifically enjoy.

ABOUT ME

I have worked with different age groups in different sectors of the community to support mental health. I teach to both to encourage creativity and support wellbeing. My background is in styling, photography, illustration, mural painting and prop making. Based in Brighton with my partner and two daughters. I am passionate about cinema, nature and food.

WHAT I OFFER

  • 1:1 Sessions
  • Small closed group sessions 4-8 people

Lessons are easily adaptable to participants with any level of art experience *NB – you do not to have had any experience of art to join. Techniques can also be used outside of classes and if desired – I can send follow up examples and project ideas to help to encourage creativity and by default continue to support your wellbeing, as make lessons bespoke to participants personal interests. Group experiences can foster connections that profoundly impact those facing isolation and they create a sense of belonging and support that can be transformative for individuals.

MY USP

Often, what many individuals need is a compassionate listener who provides empathy and kindness, making them feel heard and less isolated. This simple yet powerful act aids their journey toward a brighter future and I am well trained and experinced as an art facilitator to provide this along side the art that we will create. I have a diverse creative background, with the last 5 years focusing on the therapeutic aspects of art as an inclusive facilitator – I create nurturing spaces for community groups and individuals to explore their creativity and momentarily set aside personal challenges. Ring fencing the time to create artwork will give you respite from personal challenges – it takes your mind into a state of ‘flow’ and mindfulness – which is great medicine for feelings of anxiety, overwhelm and low mood.
